Antiquarians Scenario in Sots1

Post by Peanutcat » Wed Mar 21, 2012 2:44 pm

What really happend in it? I never bothered to play any of the scenarios but now i hear that it have something to do with Suul'ka returning. I know they rebuilt an Alien Derelict aka Suul'ka suit but what does that have to do with anything?

They rebuilt the derelict helm, and it finally succeeded in sending out the final distress beacon of the dying Suul'ka.

The surviving Suul'ka, some of which were many light-years distant, heard it. Those who had thus far evaded the Black realized that they would have to deal with him.

I thought the 'old ones' were isolationist from one another, and only worked together in the face of extreme threat, or highly personal preference (like the Siren and the Bloodweaver).

Well.. I'd say the Black is quite the threat. Everyone is a threat now.

Right, but the Suul'Ka didn't know about the Black when their suits were being made. If distress beacons for other Suul'Ka were built into their suits, that implies:

1. Suul'Ka knew about the existence of other Suul'Ka (which is likely, given how the Siren is lonely and likes to tempt Liir Great Elders into joining her)

2. Suul'Ka aren't as averse to cooperation with each other as we initially thought.

Of course they knew about eachother since they all co-oporated in enslaving all the Liir and were launched from the same planet 8)

They didn't cooperate in the enslavement. Each Suul'Ka was a singular entity. Suul'Ka "births" are separated by tens of thousands of years from each other.

Which made me think... Liir grow all their life, thus the eldest Suul'ka must be a pretty damn big thing, while the latest, still of considerable size, would remain comprehensible.
Or do they stymie their growth once in space?
Every time you use 'fluff' for lore a Kerberos developer dies. And they are already an endangered species.

I think the canon is that Suul'Ka stop growing once they become space-bound. They only feed off life energy, which gives them lots of control over their own bodies, but stops the growth process.

With the exception of the Cannibal. He just couldn't leave physical appetite behind.
