An Odd Reversal

Post by Thamuzz » Sun Jun 01, 2014 12:51 am

Back when I got my first win in original Pit, there were two common enemies that I feared more than any other: Cyberbears and large proteans. The first had an area attack that was almost guaranteed to damage objects and destroy my fragile, fragile grenades. The second was an ammo sponge that could annihilate my equipment if it somehow caught me.

These days, I hunt these enemies with glee. Cyberbears are eminently vulnerable to fear and poison and drop precious shotgun ammo. Large proteans have been supplanted as ammo sponges by the hominids and the damn lizards, and the acid sacks they drop provide ammo vital for clearing out their replacements (On that note, am I the only one who laughs maniacally when spraying down enemies with the liquidator?)

Cyberbears are still extremely annoying if you're not playing a psi character. 'Course, most enemies are way more annoying in that case...
