Hmm... I always thought the random was, well, random.

The fact that a bunch of rocks were targeting a colony at the same time I put down to "video game" rather than "shadowy villain."

Time to file in the mystery box. The mystery box gets a lot of use round this franchise. ;)
Feel free to call me App- it's shorter.

Sorry guys, it was me. After centuries of working out, I got really bored and well, you get the idea. How I'm still around in the 26th century though... I got nothing.

You Schmuck!

Hmmmm, if asteroids are the result of shadowy forces at work, then what about Comets I wonder...
Same force, different order of magnitude? Some entity in the outskirts of solar systems giving big Oort cloud objects a well calculated nudge in the direction of populated worlds? Or are the 'comets' extra solar? Siege driver with a comet sized caliber? Questions questions :D

Given that the Morrigi can create traps in which asteroids are sent hurtling towards a target and like to intervene in the affairs of younger sentient races, it's not an enormous stretch to think they might have something to do with it. Who marshalled the Screamers, anyhow? Were they all directly controlled at all times? Was there a Morrigi General who directed the Siren's troops? What might they have got up to in the absence of their Master?

I don't think "Marshaled" would be the right word...
IIRC, There was no general, they were directly controled, and were aware of their forced actions.
Basicly they were the audience, to the use of their bodies as puppets to massacre their families and loved ones.

I can't recall exactly how the control was exerted, but I think it had something to do with rewritting the mind so the body would act, but the personality would remain(without control).

The Siren's means of coercion are immensely powerful and more subtle than those of other coercers. She was the "admiral" of the Screamer fleet, and directed them in battle after battle. At present she is too weak to achieve such spectacular ongoing control of fleet assets, but with the passage of time it may become possible again. She will have to build up her strength a bit more. ;)

Ohhhh... Was it the Liir rebellion that weakened her thus?
Damn, sounds like most of the races really dodged the bullet there.
Every time you use 'fluff' for lore a Kerberos developer dies. And they are already an endangered species.

Or is either unable or unwilling to make a more obvious move that would reveal their influence to the other powers of the SotSverse?

The Black fought her nearly to death, and really jacked her up.

That's obvious now, wasn't that that time.

And here all this time I thought it was just an homage to Asteroids.

"The Hidden" could be a reasonable possibility, what with his telekinesis abilities and desire not to be discovered.

Hmmm.

Meteors destroy life, but increase "hard" resources on a planet.

Doesn't that sound like something that would benefit a race that wants to destroy all organic life on a planet anyways, then build structures?

Could the Loa be our mystery rock chuckers, using their Neutrino Pulse Gates to launch asteroids from interstellar distances?
